Ben 10 Characters - None Are As Dull As They Might Initially Appear Initially
Do not worry - this isn't a manual for all the Ben 10 characters. I have been subjected to Ben Tennyson and his motley gang for years now, but there are some I've learnt to appreciate and might be even admire a little.
Ben 10 could also be written for youngsters, however there are some mature people out there who had a great time thinking up the aliens.
Below are a few of my most liked Ben 10 characters.
Upchuck
The entire concept of upchuck is nasty and disgusting, but some how he still manages to be funky little guy. Upchuck is a Connoisseur. This is a play on the French word Gourmet, one who likes food. He originates from the planet Peptos. Peptos is the Greek word which means digested. This lovely little alien is useful because he can eat his way through just about anything, there may be nothing gourmet about his pallet. His belly will then increase to easily fit in all the food, turning him into something not looking too dissimilar to a walking belly. His weapon is his capability to spew and blast his attackers with combustible balls of abdomen acid.
Big Chill
Big Chill is a rather delicate looking alien, however this is partly because of the very unusual way in which he works. Big Chill is a Necrofriggian, a mixture of the words for death and cold. He's from the plant Kylmyys which is the Finnish word for coldness. Big Chill can easily fly and makes use of his wings to wrap around him, making it appear like a cloak to keep out the heat. The reason to love Big Chill is nothing really to do with its alien powers, but because Big Chill produced the cutest of babies. A great episode during which my son was horrified to find that perhaps this groovy alien was a girl!
Ditto
Ditto is a Splixson, a play of the word split. Ditto jogs my memory of household life. He's not particularly strong, or significantly powerful. When Ben becomes Ditto he can split himself after which the clones can all act individually, almost regardless of Bens wishes. This is the bit I like, all of them run off and do their very own thing, however all of them share the same pain. So if one of them is daft or careless they all suffer! This is like when one kid manages to mess up the entire families day out! I'm sure that this Ben 10 character was thought by a parent.
So next time the Ben 10 characters are blasting through the peace and calm of your family, and you're praying for the batteries in their toy Omnitrix to run out, do not forget that they are not all senseless.
